Prof. Marko Pavlyshyn is the convenor of Ukrainian Studies
in Monash University’s School of Languages, Literatures, Cultures and Linguistics and the director of the Monash European and EU Centre
. He was the founding President of the Ukrainian Studies Association of Australia. In 1998-2003 he was President of the Australia and New Zealand Slavists’ Association. He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities.
His research specialisations and preferred areas for higher degree supervision include modern and contemporary Ukrainian literature, post-colonial approaches to the study of Slavic literatures and cultures, and issues of culture and national identity. He is the author of Ol’ha Kobylianska: Interpretations
(Kharkiv, 2008), Canon and Iconostasis
(Kyiv, 1997), and more than 80 chapters in books and articles in scholarly journals.
